2010 was a year of ups & ups for Lucha VaVOOM; we performed at the TOYOTA GRAND PRIX OF LONG BEACH and the JUST FOR LAUGHS FESTIVAL CHICAGO, in addition to our usual Los Angeles schedule. We reached more cities than ever before, did great shows everywhere, and worked with some really really great people!
The year started off with a BAM! as our February Mayan shows totally sold out in advance and were a total smash-bash of fun… then up to The Fillmore in San Francisco for more Valentine’s love. Awe!
In March, Lucha VaVOOM performs at the prestigious TOYOTA GRAND PRIX OF LONG BEACH. WOWEE!!
In May, CINCO DE MAYAN sold out in record time – our second annual Cinco De Mayo show is a smash! It featured
Aztec Dancers, Mariachis, Folklorico Dancers, Roky Roulette, a Dirty Sanchez Piñata for the audience, some Lucha, some sexy dancers, Zumba, tamales and a dance party after with djs from DANCE RIGHT. We left directly from the Mayan-mania for the East Coast…..
Where we made our Philadelphia debut with the Wau Wau Sisters in tow, plus Baltimore and NYC; it was our triumphant return to Webster Hall and we brought in comedy star Todd Barry join Blaine on the play by play. From there we were whisked away to San Francisco where we did what is one of our favorite shows in history. Every act was a winner and the crowd went bananas. It truly was magical and of course we’re always excited and honored to return to our home away from home, the historic Fillmore! But the tour didn’t stop there…
Next up – our much anticipated debut in Seattle; the people are awesome and the crowd dug it. Hooray!!!
In June Lucha VaVOOM was invited to perform at the glamorous JUST FOR LAUGHS FESTIVAL in Chicago, co-headlining with such prestigious acts as Ellen DeGeneres, Aziz Ansari, and Adam Corolla. We then returned to LA for some HOT FUN IN THE SUMMERTIME, where plenty of people were lei’d and much tiki-la was consumed. We were as pleased as Planter’s Punch about the return of burlesque legend KITTEN DEVILLE to the welcoming shores of Lucha VaVOOM.
Took the summer off and came back for a big giant tour – Seattle & Portland, back to Los Angeles for our HALLOWEEN SHOWS, up to the Fillmore for our Cramps Tribute Show on October 31st, then off to the east coast: Philadelphia, Asbury Park, Boston, NYC, and our final show of the year in Chicago. WOW! What a year!!!!
